What is Reiki?
You may have heard of hands-on healing in many forms and Reiki is probably the most well-known healing system around the world. It originated in Japan around 1922, being rediscovered by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. He began using the energy treatments and building up his practice whilst also attuning other people to allow them to offer reiki too.
Reiki then spread around the world a few decades later and has now become a very popular form of complementary therapy for people and animals.
What are the benefits?
Reiki energy therapy works to bring balance and harmony to mind, body and spirit. In this way it takes an holistic approach and has been successful in helping many emotional and physical problems. Anxiety, fear, stress and many other issues can be helped with reiki treatments. It can also help with pain relief and encourages the body to heal itself.
What happens during a Reiki treatment?
After an initial consultation you will be asked to lie down on a treatment couch. From there the reiki practitioner will begin working with the energy, sending it through the body in an intuitive way. The main chakras (energy points) of the body are balanced and a complete scan of the body will allow the practitioner to understand if any particular areas of the body need working on, or whether just a general healing session is preferred.
Reiki can be done as a hands-on treatment or with hands slightly off the body. Both techniques work equally well. The patient may feel a warm sensation throughout the treatment and even some tingling as the energy moves around. It is a very relaxing treatment and some patients even fall asleep but that does not affect the reiki flow. After the session you should feel very relaxed and happy.
After a reiki session
Following on from your reiki session at Evesham Natural Health Centre it is advisable to enjoy a relaxing day, drink plenty of water and do not drink too much alcohol. A light meal is also preferred. You may find that you sleep very well that night. You may feel one session was enough to help but sometimes a handful of treatments are needed. Regular reiki sessions can also help keep you feeling healthy and happy.
